Incredible level of play!  The three-throw format became in practice several true freestyles.  Tyler almost got a full 3 minutes freestyle from the first throw!!!  Daniel was two times close to 2 minutes (and the third time 1 minute). Jakub had one run that lasted 1.5 minutes.

We do not see the start of Daniel's first freestyle, but I am guessing he did just the under-the-leg-boomerang-to-under-the-leg-catch before the short-circuit-to-staircase-to-heaven (as he does on the next round).  In that case, I don't understand how he could beat Tyler who went a full minute longer on his first throw. Daniel was spectacular, but there is no way of making up for 1 minute difference.  Unless the start of the first video is missing more tricks, or they changed the judging from best of three throws to a combined score.

I need to watch these freestyles again (thanks to the Russian who posted them). They are exhilarating and also humbling.  Great job guys!

Hi guys,
I also thought that Tyler is going to win with his very long throw almost without mistakes! I think that judges give more points for difficult tricks and didn't score much long regenerative routines with different variations. But I still think that Tyler did much better than me. And you're right Jorge, I just threw boomerang under the leg variation to the short circuit with staircase to heaven. There was one important part missing in the rules, there should be 1 minute limit for each throw. Next time we need to help with spintop division organization, so the rules would be complete. :)

I watched them several more times. Those routines by Daniel and Tyler are insane.  Best ever.  Jakub was very good.

Daniel and Tyler should be very proud, irrespective of the judges decision.  I would not have wanted to be a judge: keeping up the scoring with the tricks (some never seen before and of great difficulty) would have been overwhelming.  In fact, in August at Worlds I may prefer to be on stage and be beaten badly than to judge  :-\

dear all
bravo again to all of you

some tricks i had never seen:: ::) ::)
like the very fast stairway to Heaven >:D
and the various corkscrews 8)

if you accept , i also have some comments about the format
first it is the time allowed for each round = 1mn would be good
second is the lack of choreography with music = to me , it's a pity to be obliged to hear this background muzak when you play
the other thing i didn't like, was the other competitors talking , commenting, while one is on stage

for worlds , this format could be improved
besides the scoring (who judged at EYYC? )
the minimum would be using one's own soundtrack/music and be alone on stage

what do you think , folks ?

Nice videos!
Good level!
new tricks to learn!

Having one of three untimed throws is unfair to everyone. If you want three throws then a one minute limit is required. Otherwise one throw with more time or 3 minutes with as many throws as needed to fill the time. I agree only one player on stage at a time, others can be a distraction even if they are not talking.
Practice hard and play safe.

Fantastic for all players.  Tyler is my choice due to this almost 3 minute round.  Proud of you Tyler/ and for that matter of all the players. :D

Worlds will be 3-minutes freestyle to the player's music, as always.
I think the idea of having a 3 throw format for the European contest was to make it more accessible to newer players. But considering the caliber of the players who actually entered (except for Petr who just wanted to show a yo-yo/top combo trick) it should have been a freestyle. Obviously, not putting a 1 minute limit was an oversight by whoever wrote the rules (perhaps unaware of the level of these players).

I will comment later on specific tricks, but I am waiting to hear the ooohs and aaahs from everybody who loves tops . . .

Thanks guys.

I am happy to see Daniel win. He did a great job!
Congrats Daniel!!! ;)

I admit i did take advantage of there being no time limit.
I was content with my first throw, and I knew that the last two throws were very risky but I wanted to try and land them. ;D

It was fun as usual.

Both Jakub and Daniel are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and it is always fun to throw tops with them.

See you all at Worlds!!! 8)

As ta0 said, at worlds will be freestyles and these three throws are easier for new players but it seems that it doesn't help much  :(

For next contest there should be limit 1 minute and count for example 5 reps of regenerative trick as it was in old US rules. There is a topic about that but I can't find it.

Wow! This is really fun. The play just keeps getting better and better. Does anyone know if they are using one-way bearing tops. The middle of the run stairways to heaven are too much.
I believe players should have their own music and one 3 minute routine with extra tops, one player on stage. In the US we haven't been deducting for drops but as the level rises, I think we should.

As Daniel and Tyler do Staircase to Heaven (and Jakub starts with a wire walker) they must be using fixed tip tops. Not just a any staircases: Tyler starts with a 5-wrap staircase and Daniel with one out of a Short Crcuit (Mayan Staircase to Heaven?) plus a 4-wrap out of regens!

Huitzi: what about Daniel doing your "huitzilines" (hummingbirds)?  :)
