The Earl is happy. He enjoys getting birthday greetings from around the globe! Thanks. With all the things that happen on a birthday I decided to get the top spinning done right now, just in case I get too busy later to enjoy our beloved sport.
I went out to the Hall of Fame and gave a salute to all the great throwers on this forum and a few more around the world. Then I did 60 rollercoasters on an Eric Wolff bearing light up top. I had to hurry to get those last few in as it was slowing down a bit at the end. Then I got out our little finger spinners that we used to set the record for the most tops spun at one time (425) and gave it my best shot at trying to spin 60 at one time. Of course, I knew I could never do it. Once in a while I can get in the mid-thirties so it hit me. I will do two runs of 30 tops and count that for my 60th. That felt good and then I moved on to throw 60 rollercoasters with a fixed tip. I picked up a quicksilver with a plastic top and gave it a go......rats! I could tell I haven't been practicing much lately. It took me a couple tries to get it! Thankfully, the touch came back and now I at least have some good top spinning memories from the day. Mark Hayward is on his way over so maybe we will be able to have a few more fun times with tops.
Mark is coming to be the MC for my Guinness record attempt tonight at 7:30pm on the Miamisburg High School track. Things looks good for it: the weather is nice, the unicycle is repaired and my back is a little better. So I hope to have some more news to report later.
