John M - thoughts on plasma launches?
« on: April 24, 2013, 09:52:40 PM »

Some science has been going on in my back yard.

"Scientists at the University of Missouri have devised a new way to create and control plasma that could transform American energy generation and storage."

"Randy Curry, professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Missouri’s College of Engineering, and his team developed a device that launches a ring of plasma at distances of up to two feet. Although the plasma reaches a temperature hotter than the surface of the sun, it doesn’t emit radiation and is completely safe in proximity to humans."

Ball lightning? Yeah!  8)

(but I bet the sponsor, Office of Naval Research, is thinking of weapons not energy generation . . .)

There must be some spinning somewhere there . . .

Toroids of ionized gas in open air are awesome.

that could transform American energy generation and storage."

I always hate when authors/reporters really over-extend and thus detract from significant advances by identifying (long range) future resulting "possibilities" that will change/save the world.

I don't know, sounds like it could be painful. It would take a lot of Preparaton H and industrial strength Beno to keep that under control.

At about 0:45 in the video you can see the spinning!  Like a smoke ring.
