Star alignment photo
« on: March 18, 2013, 06:38:57 PM »

We need to start the 2013 photo contest thread, so yesterday I took advantage of a nice alignment of the Moon, Jupiter and Aldebaran, to add another star: STB2!

Here are three photos.  I am still undecided which to enter.

This one (with flash) does not show Aldebaran (too faint), but you can see better the crescent Moon and the top:

This one with a long exposure shows how steady is my hand  ::) :

I finally found the settings for the long-exposure plus flash. Unfortunately, could not focus everything (while having the top spinning on the stretched arm and pressing the shutter with the other hand), but I like the alignment of the four:

While taking the photographs I was a little leery because I had seen a large (and beautiful, I may add) skunk walking past exactly the same spot a few minutes before.
