Lasso String
« on: March 13, 2013, 12:06:22 PM »

Yesterday I got a package from the Czech Republic:

This spintop string is made by Jan (Kloubec) and the brand name is Lasso Spintop.

Each package had a 7ft string and a Lasso sticker (I don't know if that is how it is going to be sold).

I am supposed to review this string, but what more can I say than that every freestyler at the European contest used them?!  Those freestyles vouch for the performance quality of this string.

It is a 3 thread string, but I let Jan give the technical details as I am not a string maker.  The two solid colors should be very visible during play.

The string is very supple and feels smooth.  It should be specially good for lighter tops.  At the same time it has relatively tight twist and twists back nicely if you untwist it.  I am curious how it will hold up to prolonged play.

It worked very well for on-string regens.  It whipped fine. It tends to wire walk slowly.
It should be a great string for beginner to advanced players.  It is not as extreme as Neff strings, which may be more for advanced players.

Nice work, Jan!

I think Tyler used at EYYC his homemade strings, he also sells them at Czech yoyo store Yoyomania http://www.yoyomania.cz/yoyomania/eshop/4-1-Stringy-provazky/0/5/219-String-na-KACU-Spin-top-Oranzovy-twist

Good looking string.  Are one of you guys also making the Whiplash Spin Top String at the Lets have fun site (link = Lets Have Fun?

EDIT: Now that the picture is big I can see the label with Tyler's name on it. ::) Nice!

It's curious they sell string "Ideal for the Strummol8 Tops" without selling Strummol tops.
By the way Let's Have Fun are among the last places to offer the original BC wood tops for sale while most places that still picture them have 'out of stock' inventories.

Excellent!  What's next from the Czech Republic - hand crafted wood tops?  It's just a matter of time  ;D

Yes I make whiplash strings.

They are sold at:

www.Letshavefun.biz
www.Euroyo.com
and
www.Yoyomania.cz

Yoyomania sells the same "whiplash string" as the other stores. I have actually been selling there longer than the other stores. (Before the name)  I have not yet asked Petr Odehnal (a personal friend) from yoyomania to change the name of the product on his website.

And yes I did use whiplash to compete at EYYC, YYMCR and SMYC.

I consider whiplash to be a thinner than normal string. I like this because it gives me length for tricks without the bulk of a thick string.

Lasso strings on the other hand I consider to be a very thick string. I have used them and I do like them. They are good quality and work well.

My personal preference is a thin string and so I make whiplash for myself. (and anybody else who wants to buy it)

I do not want to hijack the lasso spintop thread with my own product.
Jan's lasso strings are great and deserve the attention. Anybody who wants a good quality thick string will love them!

We (me and Jan) are thinking about making strings for left handed players. Is here anyone who would order left handed strings?

Neff makes 4 wraps? ???
I've always done three.  :)
Does it make any difference in the feel of the string or the play of the top? ???
I assume it would be smoother.  8)

With four twists you get a smoother, thicker cord with fewer strands.  It is a beautiful thing :I

There are some secrets to my apparatus that I have not divulged yet, but you can probably figure most of it out from this thread

Best string I've ever played with. Bamboo for fast fixed tip bind tricks and broken in cotton for everything else. Mago.
