Hi, New to Forum

Hello Everyone,

I have been reading this forum for the last several months, and finally joined up.  I picked up a wood lathe last year and started to learn the lathe tools.  In learning you have to practice to get better, so instead of just turning wood into sawdust, I decided to make some finger spinning tops since they would at least be something to play with after the practice was done.  Well, I am now captivated by the spinning objects, and have created quite a fiew, as you can see in my avatar.  They have proven to be quite a bit of fun, and the guys at work are having a blast with them, along with my grandkids.  I am looking forward to learning to make some other types of tops on the lathe, and sharing what I am doing.

That is a very nice array of finger spinners you made, quite a variety of wood.
I’m sure the folks at work are happy as could be, lucky guys.  :)

Welcome, welcome!!!!!!!  Good looking finger tops.
I am a member of the Capitol Area Woodturners and we are making finger tops to supply the Fischers Houses at Ft. Belvoir, Military Hosp. Bethesda, and the DC VA Med Ctr.  Several hundred so far.

Yes, a big welcome to you, Goose.  It is great to see you are not only interested in making tops but you are interested in spinning them and sharing that enthusiasm with others.

Thanks Guys!  I appreciate the kind words.  I try to turn out about one top a week on average, some weeks I get a bunch done :), some I get none finished >:(.    I posted the latest creations over in the Collecting and Modding section.
