Check out the image!
On the inside it has my name, Alan Gray and Chris Mulhall to thank them for their great contributions in the design process.

Looks very good!

Is that a rubber ring that keeps the two section together? Or do they snap/latch?

That is a nice top size.  It looks to me that the lower part will be like 7 inches tall: would that fit in your case?

Shouldn't be called the Big MAC (Mark, Alan, Chris) then?  :D

Very cool! I love how the jelly is dripping down over the peanut butter.

Can't wait to see it spinning.

Alan came up with the great idea of using a sine wave shape and a rubber o-ring to hold the two halves together. I believe the lower piece is just over 5 inches tall, so that it will still fit in my briefcase.

n-O-ring.
When it protrudes beyond the body of the top and serves no purpose but to catch on skin and carpet, yes.  When it is recessed into the body of a PRINTED top an serves as a means to snap it together, YAY-ring.

I agree whole-heartedly. This one may protrude a little bit so that the walls don't have to be too thick/thin in the wrong spots, but I'm hoping that it won't have to stick out at all and will still be removable at the end of the show. I hate it when those o-rings mess up your top-playing.

I hope there is no protusion at all from the rubber.  If so, when it hits the ground it will almost always go farther away.  This, of course, could be disastrous to a big top that might hit other objects like a chair or wall or human legs.

I speak as one who has thousands of throws with o-rings on smaller tops......before I finally gave up on them.

I realized last night after this came up that I was actually more worried about the protruding o-ring issue than I had realized, so I talked to Chris Mulhall (top-spinner, yo-yoer, CAD expert) who did the CAD for me. Apparently I forgot that I had already had this freak out, because he told me that the groove for the o-ring was already deep enough that it will not stick out at all. Whew!

A little slot and a hook would make o-ring removal very easy. You could even use a paper clip since you will have a briefcase.

Will you be able to print it in purple and peanut butter colors?

It looks like the plastic is a white nylon-ish plastic (polyamide), and I'm told it dyes well and can be painted with acrylic. I wonder how much demand there is for peanut-butter colored dye.
