Chico Hotels
« on: September 13, 2012, 11:30:02 AM »

I procrastinated on booking a hotel in Chico (well, I had checked the nationals website but did not see any link for special rates).  I just tried to book a hotel, and after trying about a dozen, I found that Chico is completely booked!  I am sure this is not because of the yo-yo nats, there must be something else big going on that weekend in Chico.
Actually, there is just one hotel that has rooms, and it is precisely the official hotel of the contest, the Chico Inn in Mazanilla Dr.  The problem (and I am sure the reason they still have rooms) is that they are asking $230 per night, which is double or more of what I have paid in the past!!  >:(  Does anybody want to share a room?  If not I will have to get a hotel in Oroville, 23 miles or half an hour by car.

Hi Jorge Hi all

Bummer !! it's again a situation in which the INEPTT money could be used !!

imagine next year ,if we start  "the  international spintop association,
we could ask the players for a yearly subscription
which would guarantee for them a reasonably-priced place to stay at Worlds and Nats ...of course ,the Association would book in advance

we have to discuss that within "the committee"
i'll send emails to the board

Jorge,

I would recommend staying in Orland. That is where I will be staying with my sister. At least then we could ride together as I know my way around. I wish I could offer you a room at one of my sisters' homes, but one will have just had surgery and the other has a newborn baby who stole the spare spare bedroom.

Justin.

SirBoots: I could not find one in Orland, but there are several in Willow (I always took Hwy 99 from Sacramento, but IH 5 may actually be faster).  I guess I can pick you up in Orland on the way to Chico.

So, unless a roommate appears in Chico, that's what I will do.

Willows is my Hometown. Did you try Paradise? It is a nice mountain town 15 minutes north of Chico.

Thanks for the tip.  I got (what according to Hotels.com) was the last room in Paradise.  It is only 13 miles from downtown Chico and I like how mountain town and Paradise sound  ;)  The room has two beds if anybody is looking for a place to stay.

Hey, the fountain of the motel looks like a kongzhu  :D

The "last room in Paradise".  I like how that sounds.  You are one lucky man!

Out of curiosity, I looked around to try to see what else was going on in Chico that weekend.  I didn't find much but I did see where an art show is in town.

You need to throw a big rope around that fountain and around your waist for a picture with the perspective such that it looks huge compared to you. ;D
