If you are counting each string catch, that is very good. If you are counting each completed joker-choker (30 catches) that is excellent!  The way you are going you may have to skip ladder  ;)
Congrats!

it was 30 total catches with a sidewinder (plastic tip), but i'm sure it was just a fluke. i can usually manage only half that.  :(

then again, records (like rules) are made to be broken!

Joker choker is alternating roller coaster and drum beats. You have to move very quickly.

For some reason I thought that what you just described was Sewing Machine, and Joker choker was sort of a horizontal roller coaster.  I'm notorious at being wrong at this kind of thing though.

Well, I don't brag too much about those tutorials because they are old and the videos need updating, as well as some of the explanations.

I think Chris you have sewing machine and joker choker backwards. It is funny but when I first learned the tricks I had to kind of guess which trick was which and how it should be done.  I was learning by myself before encountering any other player in person and those tricks are not in the Spintastics or Duncan videos ("How to be a player" doesn't even have drumbeat, I believe). I only had as reference the short clips of Herman Lau on topspinning.com, filmed in some sort of restaurant. So when I posted the tutorials I was afraid someone would say: that trick is not sewing machine . . .

Yes!!!  Now I can share a new joker choker personal record.  It is with my preacher top.  It has taken me a while to get used to the longer string (rope) but tonight I had a couple runs in double digits and even had a run in the 20's (counting each catch as one).  With some more work I think I will be able to use the joker choker as a regeneration move I can count on with that top.  Yippee!
