« on: April 11, 2012, 03:10:03 PM »

hi all
i 've just read this article in the NYT

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/11/arts/us-visa-rules-frustrate-foreign-performers.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20120411

it's about the red-tape concerning visas for performers
I hope it doesn't affect our project to bring mexican players to Worlds!

The answer for Worlds is to get info to GReg as soon as you can and submit early.

The article is very depressing. I guess homeland security types are not the typical patrons of the performing arts . . .  ::)
I had a long discussion with Greg at last Worlds. I argued that given the visa requirements the US in currently not a good place to host a world contest.

Fortunately, now that Salvador works for Cometa his chances of coming to Worlds increased exponentially. He could come with a business visa, and business is something they do understand . . .
