Videos to apply for Spintastics Patches
« on: March 10, 2012, 07:04:47 PM »

I made videos for the 8 and 16 patches. For the 24 one I need to be out of the house (I still don't trust my around the world that much...) ;)

8 Trick Patch video

16 Trick Patch video

Jim, I made sure to upload the video before getting your parcel, so as to be worthy of the patch you included within! ;D

I'm going to email the video links to the address ta0 gave me, when all videos will be ready (I hope to get all the patches...), to be judged, but I'm linking them here to try and overcome my shyness... :)

Maybe next time I'll try to smile, too! Cameras make me awfully serious

Be merciful, please...  ::)

Well done, bAd!

Very clean tricks, you got those patches without problem.  Perhaps the only one that is not technically perfect is the Subway: it should be done in one swing instead of waiting at the bottom. But that is a minor detail. Congrats!

Let's see if more people get the courage to post their videos.  Those patches are very nice and worth it.

bAd, you are BAD!  8)
(That means good, it is an expression used here years ago.  Does anyone use it these days?)

Very nice execution and good music choice.

Thanks for posting these!  :) :) :)

Well done!  Very smooth.  I am not sure that Dale will approve wire walker because the launch hand can not move until after the top has left it.  This is a very, very technical point.  I hope he does because it was close and all of the tricks are very well done.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys, and for the tips!
I'll shoot Subway and Wire Walker again today, and update the video... :)

As for the 24 and freestyle videos, those will have to wait for next weekend, since it's raining outside...

Nice work!  Your progress is inspiring.

Is it true that you are ready for your freestyle patch?  If so..........wow!

Great Job bAd! The tricks were done well!

Do you have to use a spintastics top for the videos? I only have a BK and a Giulia.  :-\

@czyoyo, I believe you have to use a Spintastics top, yes, I read so on the spintastics patch request form...

I updated the 16 video in the opening post with corrected versions of Wire Walker and Subway, and I convinced my girlfriend that I could try to shoot the tricks for the 24 one indoors (using certain precautions)...
So, here it is! :D

24 Trick Patch Video

Just like the previous ones, I'll gladly take your comments and tips! :)

Earl, I don't know about being "ready for my freestyle patch", but I can somehow play continuously for over a minute, performing a few of these tricks, and some others, so I'll give it a try... ;D

For that, I definitely need to be outdoors, though, so it'll be next saturday, most likely.

Bravo!

Really, the elevated drumbeat over the bed made the trick considerable more challenging.

I was under the impression that the lasso had to be from the boomerang but I checked the Spintastics site and Val's video is from the hand, so I was mistaken.

From a marketing perspective it makes total sense that the feat must me accomplished with a Spintastics top. Dale and Val taught those tricks on their Spinology DVD and the patches are meant to be a reward for learning them. For what it is worth, the Quicksilver Hybrid, with Salvador's tip, is my favorite fixed tip top to play (well, tied with Sodatop). It is ultra smooth and doesn't precess as quickly as a Giulia. Thus you have more time to roll barrels and choke jokers.  >:D

I think we discussed this before, Ta0. I knew that Val did it from her hand and you didn't believe me.  ;)

Thanks guys!
I must say that drumbeat over the bed was extremely more fatiguing than it normally is, at the end I had sore arms...  :P

I agree with you, SirBoot, the QS Hybrid in fixed (I think I have a stock tip though, don't know what Salvador's is like) is a totally awesome top!

As for the lasso, I copied it from the Spintastics videos, but I think a lasso from boomerang is in the v16 patch video too, for the rollercoaster to string trick, so both are included, in a way... ;D

Awesome work! I really want to go make some videos now. I am thinking I will try to do everything using only a Sidewinder. A true challenge. By the way, Dale approved my freestyle video, so I can throw up my patches in my signature line. Boom!

I'm still in the early stages of planning, for my freestyle, but hopefully I'll get it down before next weekend...
