Some new business in town is having Wednesday open mike nights.  It is mostly a bar but they have a bunch of games on one side and I can take high schoolers there on occasion.  They are inviting everyone to this and are open to most any song (as far as I can tell).  I was thinking about getting some top spinning songs together and have them ready to share when there is an opening at the microphone.  Weren't there some other songs about spinning that we talked about?  Of course, there is the dreidel song and happiness runs in a circular motion.  And I always think of Spinning Wheel by Blood Sweat and Tears.

I know we have talked about this before.  Don McClean's version of "Dreidel".  This is a significant song because (as far as I know) this is the only top spinning song to hit the charts.  It peaked at #21 in 1973.

I practiced several freestyles to the Orlons song, but I am not sure if I used it on stage.

Another "Spinning Like a Top" song is a "Eurobeat" mostly in Japanese from the 90's. We did discuss this one on the old board. Way too fast for a spinning top freestyle  , more like for a 2A freestyle by Shinji (shortened version with dance):

I was trying to find out if Cole Porter had written a song with that name when I stumbled on this. It was started by this comic:

I couldn't find this song being played, but the sleeve of this 7" (single) vinyl record has a top spinning on the hand and the alternative name of the song is La Trottola. Funny, but the main name of this Italian song is "Te set una pirla": "You are an idiot!" (google translation).
