FrankenCuper!
« on: November 16, 2011, 03:04:21 PM »

So, since I haven't been able to watch much T.V. lately, I decided to kill time by finding a use for a broken Spintastics Blizzard cap that I had lying around. Inspired by Jorge's TD-capped HP and an original QS turned into a hybrid that Dale let me play with, I decided to try to make a Cuper hybrid...or FRANKENCUPER! I hacked away at the Spintastics cap with my knock-off Dremel for about fifteen minutes before I got it to the right size. I then went wild with some tape to fasten the hacked cap to the cap-less Cuper. Now I have a Cuper top, with a Spintastics cap, a custom Ti tip, and for good measure the string I use has a button made out of two, smashed together, Miller Lite bottle caps that I had lying around (from the time I turned my T.V. into an expensive Lava Lamp). Wanna see a picture? Here ya go...

Good assembly of parts! One develops an attachment to tops one has modded heavily.

There had to be a silver lining somewhere . . .

If it is any consolation, I have two or three small LCD TVs that have cracked panels (accidents I had while doing some unusual work). You can still turn them on and some parts of the screens work (assuming the liquid crystal has not completely oozed out by now). Perhaps we could assemble an art display with all of them!  :P

If we lived close I would drive by and pick up that broken screen for the Hall of Fame.  It would be a hit!

Yesterday I had the chance to play with FrankenCuper and it is a very sweet top. The Cuper 360 is a good playing top but with the lighter cap it plays even better.

I also tried Neff's sodatop and it is a fabulous top.  If you want to learn roller coasters, it is the ideal size.

I may retrieve one of my broken LCD TVs from the attic and get a picture to satisfy the morbid curiosity of the populace  :D :D :D

"I'm Cuper, thanks for asking!" FrankenCuper 2.0

So, I decided to make a mold of the original Cuper cap and then cast some hard plastic resin. I then modded the resin cap a la the Diet RC. What I was left with is a resin cap that will screw into my Cuper that is the color of butterscotch and plays just as sweetly.

I already made you one, Jorge. When do you want to play next so I can give it to you?
