hello again
i'm willing to organize a finger-operated top contest

this contest is open to anybody willing to make/build a top
no special abilities required

 dimensions
max diameter 1 inch
 max overall height , tip included , 1inch
material
any material allowed : horn,wood,metal, fruit, glass,gold, plastic , delrin,cardboard,paper,frozen food,diamond, hay,carbon,  .......etc....

for example if you hammer flat a beer cap ,punch a hole and insert a bamboo skewer , that's fine ::::

ruled out :
no launcher , no bearing , no string , just a pinch of fingers allowed to start the top

judgement

the tops will be scored on 2 main abilities
1 sleeper 
 one point per second , 3 points for every second over 1 minute
2 artistic :

material/shape  on 7 points
finish/color on 7 points
name on 6 points


how to

shoot an uncut video of your top , spinning on glass for the sleeper score
shoot 1 photo of your top for the measurements, using a ruler
shoot 1 photo of your top for the artistic aspect
give a name for your top (any language accepted including french)

make links available on the topspinning forum

winner/judgement

there will be 4 judges :
 2 students in art school
 my friend Snoopy the juggler
 and me(myself and I)

the winners will get

1st place  2 of philippe's state of the art tops
2 nd place one of jim's home-made tops
3 rd place one set of B&W chocolate tops

a few changes after some feedback :
I'm raising the stakes a bit but the prizes too
one month to go : getting over a minute shouldn't be that hard,
 the arty style can get you up to 20 pts,
fair enough ?

I think you should not give points for sleeper time: just ask for a minimum sleeping time (e.g. 30 seconds or 1 minute) and if it passes you score it on the other criteria. If not the winner will be a heavy finger top made out of metal. I have a Quark tungsten top that can go over 10 minutes: it is ineligible because it measures almost 2", but if not with a little paint job it would rack over 1,500 points just for sleeper time!

Here is mine I made it out of Corian and Rose Wood. It was a little challenging to make it so small but it turned out well i think.

Beautiful top and a very decent spin time for such a small top of over one minute and a half.
I think you are missing a name for it:

name on 6 points

I still think the sleeper score is over valued with respect to the artistic score.
