Tour de France
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:39:13 PM »

I have not seen anything on the board about all the excitment of the Tour de France.  Maybe there are not any americans near the top but how about that Thor Hushovd in the overall lead wearing that yellow jersey?  Do we not have some people from Norway on the forum?

I do not think there are any Norwegians on the forum that are that into sports ;)
And he is not going to win, so it is not that important.

hi Mike

here is the link to the map (middle of the page)

http://www.letour.fr/indexTDF_fr.html

for this edition they will do 3 regions with altitude
first the "massif central"  then the Pyrénées and then the Alpes

only a strong climber with a strong team will be able to win
Contador and the Schleck brothers etc ...

and there's this new guy Gilbert from Belgium who seems to be a good contender

happy cycling !

Wow!  Thanks for your "on the spot" reporting.  Glad they are biking through your cross-country skiing area.  The Tour does a great job of highlighting off such a wonderful country.  Plus, it has such a great history.  I love those old photos of the tour 70 and 80 years ago!

Hey Jim,

Gotta hand it to your Thomas Voeckler.  He is doing the job and has hung on to that yellow jersey for six days!

Vive la France.

hi mike!
yes  Thomas Voeckler is still in yellow !!
at each interview he says : i'm not going to make it ... blah blah blah!
to day he took so many risks in the last down slope that he did a "tout droit"
, " a straight on" ? missing one curve to go directly into a small house's yard
he lost a couple of sec but he's still there

tomorrow and friday are the highest mountain stages
we'll see if contador can make it

Pulp.......sorry to hear about Contador being stripped of his 2010 title.  This is why I competed this year with extremely high levels of blood sugar.  I stopped taking medication so I would not have to give up any of my winnings, in case I did happen to do well in Orlando.

I'm sorry a lot. Contador is very apreciated in Spain. The Tour without him is a bit smaller. But... who's known the truth?
