Sure, and it is looking like I'll come  :).
At worlds I thought about doing something like that after I got the dvd, but we were always busy throwing tops.

By the way, if people go one day early, as we had discussed last year, it could be perfect to do Friday.

Not to mention this cool koma dvd you talking about, Is it way to expensive to get?, I would really like to watch it

The website has it listed for $37.50 (¥2,940) tax included (!).  Silvertop paid $56, which should include shipping. I had a good idea in asking Taka to hand-deliver one at worlds: I got it for $30 :) (he probably just did a mental conversion of 100 yens per dollar.)

Taka mentioned that he knew some of the guys in the video. I told him he should bring them to worlds. He said: "maybe one day . . . but you should also come to Japan . . ."   ::)

Does Taka ever come to US Nats?  ???

I tried a combination of several programs to get a translation of one of the first pages on the DVD.  The most "successful" sentence was: "Winding mosquito right society coming of string"   ??? ??? ???

I hope so!  I would love to pick up a copy there.  I also like the idea of arriving a bit early.

I didn't even make it to the brewery last time... ;)

I looked at the Nagoya Museum website (they made it) and after some clicking around found this shop page:

http://yantya.yokochou.com/katalogu/hanbainage/hanbainage.html

It seems that the DVD has a 20% discount because of the 20th anniversary of the museum. The list price is 2,940 yen (printed on the back of the DVD) but it is now at 2,352 yen ($30).

Unfortunately, there is no shopping cart.  It seems that you have to email them:

Mail order. Please enter product name, quantity, destination address, name and phone number .
Email:komako@yk.commufa.jp

It only lists shipping costs inside Japan.

Regarding the spin time of the koma in the first video, it looks to me like he chalked his fingers, which would make sense for a fixed tip koma.

I wonder if the sloped tip on this one is a traditional design or a modern change to improve string play?  the tip doesn't look like its good for a spinner but maybe for battle the flattish end allows it to walk on a surface like skittels tops.

edit 1:If the pic doesn't appear the link is http://yantya.yokochou.com/katalogu/hanbainage/hanbainage007.jpg

edit 2: The link seems forbidden, sorry.  It is the top just above N-48 just click on the image for a larger view.

edit 3:  See poptop's post below for the pic. Thanks.
