Several years ago I got from Ebay this radio-controlled version:



The pistol in addition to being the controller, is the launcher and also recharges the battery on the top:





I confess I did not follow the Beyblade fad or product line, but I am sure this is just a Chinese knock off and there must have been a similar version available from Beyblade.  It did work, although not as spectacularly as on that video. And it did not last long: I stripped the ripcords on the first day!  >:(  I guess they copied everything except the quality  ::)  It has been sitting in a box since then and now the top probably needs a new rechargeable battery.

Yeah, an RC top sounds very intriguing!  If you make one, the tip should be fixed and not too pointy: to work it needs to apply torque to the ground.

If you haven't seen them yet, the IR controlled Beyblades are available in the US for this holiday season.



Currently $25 at Target (regularly $30).
