hi all
yesterday i was invited by a juggler friend to meet an old timer clown
who worked for the circus "medrano" over 40 years as "le clown "toto"
he has written many books on juggling and circus arts his name is dominique denis
he told us about a movie "tit tatt" with laurel and hardy in which stan laurel spins a top after a crazy scene in which a bunch of wrist watches are dropped into a blender
......
he also spoke about the artist "koma zuru " a japanese who had a complete spintop routine at the monte carlo festival of circus in 1984
besides that he met monsieur Malafosse 20 years back and also jochen schell
......
the interview/discussion was friendly: he remained with kids eyes when my friend Pich did his demo .....pich does what he calls "graphic manipulation"

I found the Laurel and Hardy scene he is referring to.  Their movie is "Tit for Tat" from 1935.  That title may not fly so well today!!!

Laurel and Hardy are going back and forth in revenge activities with a shop owner.  At one point the owner puts a bunch of watches in a blender and breaks up all the watches.  Laurel takes one of the pieces out of the blender and spins it like a finger top.

That always makes me laugh!  All those watch parts smashed and mangled, then he pulls out one piece that can be saved............as a top!!!  He's about to put it back with the other smashed pieces but then decides to stick it in his pocket for later.  That's a true top spinner!
