I just got my fixed tip QS in the mail today.
So sweet.  I love love love that Dale has such a fine top in his fleet.
The smooth sides make all the difference.  Great size, great weight, great play, great top.

There are a few things newbies should be aware of if they get one of these:

The fixed tips don't fit, you have to add a filler.  Use the little plastic bag the tip comes in, put one sheet over the hole, push in tip, trim off plastic.

Trim the tape.  Mine came with over an inch of overlap, and the top was fairly wobbly.  I trimmed it to 1/4" of overlap and it was much better.

I got one of Salvador's tips.  Very sharp.  Ouchy.  File that sucka.

The string is 4" too long IMO.  I'm glad that Dale gives the extra length, but you have to modify a normal boomerang to get the tip to come back pointed down.  I'm sure most folks will just leave it long.

I've had good luck using the heavy, leaden foil that covers the cork and top of a wine bottle as "filler" or a shim when I need a little extra material to make stuff fit.  The foil is thick but malleable; it's good when you need a little more material than the baggie method offers.  You need to carefully cut a strip to size and may need a few strips to get it just right, but when you press it all together and the foil gives just a bit, you can feel the goodness!

I am glad to hear Neff say Spintastics string is too long.  That is what I have always felt.  But when I talk to Dale about it, he looks at the string and throws it and says that the length is fine for him.

I wonder what others say about the string length?

It is a problem if it fails in your pinky toe  :'(, or on the glass of the living room coffee table :-[. But for the top there is no problem, in order for it to bend you have to drop it in solid concrete from a very high altitude

Personally I like playing with the longer string. But I do have to change the angle that i throw the top i.e. the tip is pointing towards me a little as opposed to straight up.
