Colombian tops
« on: March 22, 2011, 07:39:33 PM »

This photo was taken at a street market in Bogotá, Colombia. I think it is pretty unusual to see traditional (and good quality) wooden tops displayed and sold together with plastic modern tops. Nice!

It looks like some of the red paint is worn off the double tipped top (upper right corner) as though it has seen some action.  I wonder if they have additional tricks for the upper tip beyond what we've seen with the typical knob capped traditional top.  Relative to their standard shape, it is rather squat with the center diameter approximately the same as the body height (not including the tips).

Beautiful display. I have never seen a double tip top like the red one on the background, seems like it has being used also. The wood tops painted with metallic colors are very inexpensive and the tip is made out of a very thin nail that bends very easy, making the top to wobble.

Some of those plastic tops look like they have 4 tabs.  Anyone recognize the bird (Eagle?) logo?

Seems like thesr could be from Mexico, 5* Holo Five perhaps?

Those are Pather tops, made in Colombia but inspired by 5 Estrellas. We discussed them before here.

Very nice.  The colors and patterns remind me of Christmas ornaments.

Yes, that is one beautiful display of trompos.  Even if I didn't throw tops I would be interested in those just because they look so nice.
