news turnings ////
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:26:50 AM »

hi all
i came out with this idea : a ventilated top

first impressions : when boomeranged they sort of shiver in the air... then in the hand they spin without wobble and produce a ventilated air like a small fan ... the big one does a discreet humming at the start : i have to try thinner rings for more sound  ??? may-be
anyway i had fun turning these and they look more "arty" than the regular tops I make
essences of wood big one : sycomore, small one olive tree from corsica (heavier than the other !!)

turning off till tuesday :P

I love the look of them!
Especially the tapering depth of groves on the olive wood top.
They would have been good to use this past summer with all the heat we had here!

Nice idea! The "cooling vents" make those tops look really cool!  8)

Very nice.... never saw anything like this.  Like a honey dipper with no handle! :)

Yes, that's what I've been trying to think of.  It looks like a honey dipper!!!

That's a pretty fascinating idea with the ventilation thing going.  Clever thinking, Jim.  But then, we always knew you were clever!
