Strummol8 plans
« on: December 05, 2010, 08:58:40 AM »

Well, this week i'm going to the machinist, a new run of Giulia will come, i will make a little run of a new version of the first top, the STB, but with larger crown (to hold the double tip cap), a little more height and 80 gr of weight. I think i will realase a small acrylic run for test pourpose, after will come a larger delrin production.
Also i will plan the production of the final version of the Titti top with some improvements than the prototype, and an axle system fit one way bearing, 10/20 to ship to my beta tester around the world  ;) , the tip will work in all my tops and can mount two or three different bearings, the best way will be find in the next months.

Sounds good for you?  ::)

Sounds great. Will the double tip not work for the normal guilias?

The cap for the double tip is designed to work with Giulia top, now i will make all the top crowns albe to fit the same cap.

I don't understand the return of the STB. Guilia makes it obsolete.

But I am looking for final Titti, prototype was superb.

Because a lot of people asks it and because it was "wrong", i want it better, better height, shape and weight. I will make a clear acrylic limited run to test the 80 gr (i don't need to work inside because of the different material weight 1,19 vs. 1,41)

I still bet on the Titti for the new year and I hope all the new things works fine (double tip, internal rim, one way bearing ecc)

Pulp, I may be alone with this opinion, but I prefer the faster play of the STB.  I hope Maurizio is not just doing just this run for me though - the Giulia is pretty much perfect as you say.  I like the larger size for show, but like the smaller shape for speed.  If it were my project, for the next run I would go for a size somewhere in between the two.

I would like to see a second tip shape, a bearing tip something like Spintastic's shape with a flat shelf.  I've found it is very hard to do upside down tricks with the shape I designed.  I still believe that if a top is to be convertible from fixed to bearing, it must work as a fixed tip first and foremost, but the shelf has advantages for bearing play.

I love all of Maurizio's projects, what I would like to see the most (but I know the challenges) would be a 1WB Giulia.  I think it would be pretty cool for S8 to be the first to do a production run with that feature.
