turning the top of a gear stick..
« on: November 18, 2010, 12:35:59 PM »

hi folks
just to share this story
last night at the squatt where my workshop is , a guy comes - from britanny ,a thin skin head and tatooed face and hands tatooed too with checkers :::
the guy wants me to make a knob for his VW van gear shift broken
i tell him ok well just come by in an hour or 2
thinking of the "wooodturning magazine" adage which is
odd work= 50 p a minute
i turned the knob in 10 mn in olive wood , with a spintop shape and ergonomic finish
the guy was glad, got me a fresh one and thanked a lot

happy times at the squatt
with a grant from the city Mayor until April 11 8)

Good work, Jim.  Glad to hear the squatt is working out well and your wood turning is working out well, even if you aren't always making a toupie!
