S8 Video Contest (new thread)
« on: November 14, 2010, 12:48:46 PM »

(OK, new thread, I'll keep this first post updated)

Announcing the 2010 S8 Video Contest!
Winner will receive an S8 Crown Tip Assembly!!!
(deadline to be determined, start working on it!  Probably around Christmas)
Deadline: UPLOADED before 12:00 am Zulu Time, January 1, 2011
Since only a limited amount of crown tips have been made, to be eligible to acquire one you must post a video in this thread.  If more videos are posted than tips available, only the best videos will qualify.  What is the best?  Best continuous run of tricks , best new trick, best editing, best promotion of S8, that's what!

Here is what we have so far.  The first few were made before the contest, but qualify.  These players are more than welcome to update their entry, just post another video in this tread and I'll replace it in this thread (only one video per person please, but you can combine your old video into your new one if you want).

I got my strummol8 and I LOVE IT!!!!

Is there a name for this trick? To me it looks like cable car  crazy 8's or merry go round.
[later named Roadrunner]

so i think i finally made up a trick. first i throw a trapeze. then i put my thumb inside my guilia and do a thumb grind, throw the top in the air and whip catch to finish. i hope this has not already been done. i have not seen this one yet.

Everybody should learn RunBMC's Roadrunner trick.  And the video shows long spinning of the Giulia.

Can you do it, ta0? My favorite part of the trick is when is when I rollercoaster and imeditley go back into the roadrunner.

I would consider a roadrunner to be: Fixed or bearing tip, at least 3 zorros (not blizzard, crazy 8's or any of those other fancy tricks i did in the middle) and back to hand.
Thats all that I can think of as requirements to this trick.

Nice! It never occurred to me to sandwich a trick between the corkscrew and its reversal.
Great idea and a clean execution!

Yeah, we need a deadline. I want to try my two-tip tricks with the S8s.

I like it Jim  ;D
Y'all have the rest of the year to finish your videos.
Videos must be UPLOADED before ZERO HUNDRED HOURS, ZULU TIME, January 1, 2011.
Videos that have already been submitted may be re-mixed until that time.

Remember; new tricks will score big, but so will GRATUITOUS PROMOTION OF S8!!!

I appretiate that you all :)
I figured out that I can do almost any trick in between this corkscrews as long as I finish it with a lasso back to blizzard and then to Reverse CS, just because the way the spintop sit on the string, if it doesnt come back that way its a deffent tangle and cant finish the trick
Your trick has inspired me to a theory of a trick i can't pull off, maybe someone else can do it. As you do a normal corkscrew, when it gets to the end to where you can do the blizzard, you cable car the top all the way back up to a staircase to heaven. Is this even possible? and another idea that could be useful if doing fixed tip corkscrew: You can "sandwich" a corkscrew with small RCS and back to (possibly) staircase to heaven.

Every trick begins with an idea! ;D

Endless possibilities, thats why I enjoy spintops so much :D
I havent tried your idea RunBMC but I agree with Neff, with a bearing I would have to throw it really hard for it to reach the top to my hand, and even then I think it would get tangled before getting up there
With a fixed tip, I dont think I can make it regen fast enough to travel up the string, concidering the size of the string thats left while the other half is wrapted around my arm
Good ideas though, i'll try it with fixed tip and let you know what happend

I split the topic for the Corkscrew Theory discussion, i'm not sure if it was worth it now...  oh well.

Continue with the S8 Video Contest!
