Title: Coronavirus piñata
Post by: Jeremy McCreary on March 23, 2020, 02:07:29 PM
In addition to all the social distancing, hand-washing, and surface-cleaning we must do now, it's important to keep our spirits up as best we can.

So toward that end, I turned a old working gear ball (aka "brain gear") into something much more useful: A coronavirus piñada filled with -- what else? -- toilet paper!

Ahhh, I feel much better now!

hilarious.  It needs a sign..."in case of emergency, strike with stick".  and hang it in the restroom

Good eye! Yamaha 6 ft 2 in grand -- a very sweet piano. Used to play jazz, though never very well. Hand independence isn't one of my long suits.

Hmmm, this might be a good time to give the piano another go. Now that we're under a stay-at-home order till at least Apr 10 , my wife won't be able to throw me out. >:D

Larger version of the coronavirus gearball with the viral outer coat in black and the protein spikes orange:

Part of the underlying cage:

The gear axles go through the open holes in the orange parts.

I want to see you breaking the piñata once the epidemic is over  ;D

It would take a much bigger stick. The cage is really strong.  And those gears are expensive.

So when the time comes, I'll just take it apart -- piece by piece, and as slowly and painfully as possible.  >:D

Boo! You cannot call it a piñata then! >:(
If you need to sacrifice a few gears to celebrate surviving the 2020 pandemic, so be it. It's worth it! (specially is you make a video for us  >:D )

PS: It looks really nice!

Okay, okay, I'll take the gears off and then break it open. The other parts are cheap.
