I found this at the bottom of an e-mail from Reserve Officer Association an organization of US military officers.

And are we not all 'mere guests' upon this whirling earth?

Yes, a good use of the "whirl" word!  Thanks for sharing.

I put in Google "whirling in a sentence" and the first thing that came up was "He faced her, eyes whirling madly."
