Title: Skywalker Help
Post by: Kirk on July 20, 2016, 09:14:04 AM
I am about 30% and improving on Skywalker for the Worlds.  I would like to put it in my routine, but .. the (only) top that I can do it with is a Cometa King Cobra (aluminum ring).  I only have one and it is developing a crack.  :(  I fear it is 4 drops from destruction. I have given it the toluene treatment to forestall the inevitable.
Does anyone going to the worlds have one or two that I can buy, mooch or borrow?  It is to late for shipping to buy any on ebay.
Thanks
Kirk

I only have one King Cobra that you could borrow for your freestyle.
However, Skywalker drains the spin and it is the type of trick people tend to miss in a freestyle (but Neff and Jakub have used it with success).

Oh that just might help. There is one crack near the snap hole.  The other cracks are at the tip (which I had to re-install with JB-weld)

Made a fixture for the lathe to mod tips whilst still on the top.  Modded the tip on a gladiator.  More testing needed but it now works much better. Problem solved (I hope)
I also got rid of the string cutting razor edge on a bunch of Spintastics bearing tips (no disassembly needed)

Care to share a pic of the lathe fixture and tell us how you use it?
