Title: my new chonkakegoma @-@
Post by: Jack on January 04, 2016, 11:27:02 AM
behold the fruit of my wanderings on friday afternoon!!!!!!!! yet another lamp part, this time from a lamp shade, its almost perfectly balanced and acts exactly like my real chonkakegoma  :o the sound it makes is terrifying when it gets going fast, sort of an ominous and loud wooshing noise  :-[
its quit heavy aswell, i have to be a lil careful because those dips in the profile act like hammer mills and really hurt when you get hit if i do say so myself........which i do........because they do...........alot.....@-@.................anyway behold my new lamp part chonkakegoma!!!

You must be the Midas of Spin: everything you touch becomes a perfectly balanced top (or at least chonkake)!  8)

It works perfectly: you even do grinds!  :o

"JUMP AND COVER" !

good going Jack !!

on a side note I checked your trip from Toronto to Cleveland
it's only 50 bucks by bus, and maybe less with shared expenses by car

Blimey , you're on!

What if we come to you?

oh that would be an ordeal mike, i would envite you in only to force feed you cake and sweet things and insist that copius amounts of coke and canadian beer be consumed after which a marathon session of spinning all manner of things including every lamp in my apartment and then more cake with more coke or beer then i would drag out the old fire-top and we'd have some real fun, then..........................well then i dont know.............cake is expensive so maybe we'd lay off on the cake at that pont if thats ok..........the canadian dollar is like 71 cents at the moment and that doesnt even make sense because we no longer haaave a cent the penny was retired.........

By "we" maybe I should have said "I".

I have never been to Toronto.  My wife and girls are going to visit a friend on the Virgin Islands.  It seem like I deserve a trip of my own!!!  Maybe something after worlds and the Miamisburg Whirled Top Fest?

What if we come to you?

It's funny you should mention this.  My friend, David, who came with me to Miamisburg last year, and I have been talking about the possibility of visiting Jack in Toronto.

I had read that Jack can't travel, and we could really use a dose of his expertise to help us learn regenerations.  Toronto isn't that far to go for a day of spin top guidance.

We don't even need cake or beer!   ;D  But we sure would love some top lessons....

That is sad. But better to die playing than pick up dust on a shelf.
I am sure you can reuse the "tip" and make yourself one out of solid wood.
Meanwhile, you can play with the lamps!  :)

Sounds like fun, Jack!  Maybe sometime in the spring.  David is a forum member, but more of a lurker than a poster.  I think his user name may be butterfingers....

Wow, I love that! Very inspiring, lamp parts was a great idea. I'm glad I found this forum as I am learning about new types of spinning toys and even sports.I've never seen a "chonkakegoma" before. This one looks like its pretty sporty, like it could wear out out in a good hurry. You can bet I'm going to try this "chonkakegoma". The whole idea of a spinning toy that's not actually connected to a string but still needs it is intriguing to me.

Thanks for sharing!

We look forward to hearing more from you.  Where are you from?
