Congrats to France on the upset win in the men's Olympic pole vault.  I was also impressed with their gold medal in men's handball.

I just read that they tied although the French were somewhat better.  I also read that the Uruguayans have not lost in 18 games (!) what is quite a feat. No so their Olympic team (by the rules 22 yrs old an younger except for up to 3 players) who won 1 and lost 2 of their three games.

oh well, for France: first 20 minutes they were slow to move
1st half time : still lagging  2nd half they looked tired
one good shot on the bar at the end
Uruguay did well , strong defense, very opportunist in counter attacks, but the team is ageing

I was looking up some Olympic results.  Sorry to see Uruguay did not win any medals in the Olympics.  From what I saw of the Olympic results, I think ta0 is one of the best athletes in the country with his world championship in top spinning.

Well, at most Olympics, Uruguay does not get any medals. The last medal was silver in cycling (track time) in Sydney 2000.  In total we have had 10 medals: 2 gold (soccer), 2 silver (cycling and rowing) and 6 bronze (rowing, basketball and boxing). Having a population of 1/100 that of the US is a large part of that.  Of course, our sporting claim of fame is professional soccer (for example, only Brazil, Italy and Germany have more World Cup titles).

For that reason, if there is a spintop contest outside the US next year and IF I compete, I may compete as Uruguayan.  By the way, Carlos Solis is not really Mexican, he is from Nicaragua.

Yes, compete for Uruguay.  It is good for top spinning and for the country.  You are a national treasure!
