Jim,

Here are a  couple of links which might help, the 1st link has many video/recordings by a studio performer but you can hear the songs and also see the lyrics.

Doc Watson is more Americana/Folk than country.  He is my favorite performer of all time!

Seems like Willie Nelson had a good top spinning song:

On my string again.
Can't wait to spin on my string again.
The life I love is toppin' with my dear old friends.
I can't wait to spin on my string again.............

Not well known, but if you want a pure spinning top country song, here you have it:

"SPINNING  TOP"

I'm  a  regular  spinning  top,
I  keep  spinning  I  can't  stop.
Don't  try  to  slow  me  down,
I'm  a Spinning  Top.

I'm  spinning  round  and  round,
I was  spinning  when  I  hit  the  ground.
Don't  try  to  slow  me  down,
I'm  a  Spinning  Top.

I'll  come  spinning  through  your  town,
Gonna  spin  your  little  heart  round.
Baby,  can't  slow  me  down,
I'm  a  Spinning  Top.

I'm  a  regular  Spinning  Top,
I'll  keep  spinning  I  can't  stop.
Don't  try  to  slow  me  down,
I'm  a  Spinning  Top.

Mr. Ta0......I was sure you were pulling our leg with this one.  I really didn't believe there was a R.D. Foster with a country song called "A Regular Spinning Top".  It even looked like you did some doctoring to get that supposed album cover of a guy strumming a guitar with a long handlebar mustache and a big ole' cowboy hat.

But darn if I didn't eventually find more about this guy.  In fact, check out this page with his music and his dancing figures and his partners - the Red Dog Rangers!...........

Ha! I would love to pull your leg, Mike, but I have too many good true spintop stories to be inventing new ones  ;)

I had actually used that music before in a video: to recount of TopPro II at Worlds 07 (I had uploaded it to Greg's video vault but it is not online anymore).
