Snap Start/automatic start tips?

I'm looking for tips or resources on how to get this snap start mastered.
It seems to be the one trick that I have a lot of trouble figuring out. 
I cant get the top going fast enough to not just fall right off the string.
I've tried with everything from the short circuit, to the 5" watts top and many in between.
Any videos or resources would be much appreciated. I feel like I'm very close..
