Another edition of the Marines Festival is over. It was a great success. Images and videos when I arrive home.

There are not many pictures I can contribute, most of them show the levitating top or my stand.
This video is also from a show at Marines this year, I found it on Kostas' face book page.

The hollow sphere, where I often enclose the top inside, together with the setting of the small table and the black table cloth, reminded Ludo and others of a truth teller with the crystal sphere. In french "Madame Irma" is the name for such a person it seems. So they made me a sign like that and put in on my table. Jim later wrote that text that basically says that I can tell the future from the movement of the levitating top. And that it is 10 cents is you want to know.

This picture I will also contribute to our photo contest 2024, maybe I crop it a bit differently and I still have to think of a good name.

This has become a tradition to close a festival, if Figaro is present:

(I was sent the video by WhatsApp, so the resolution is not the best)

It worked very well. I wished I had taken a photo or video from below.

Cyril was very happy to receive his ITSA Honor Member award. I'm glad to see it's already in display among his collection.

We had lot's of fun at Marines. Players got very creative with the long distance target shooting, with all sorts of challenges. Here Carolina, Pablo's partner, nails the racket under the spinning base:

Guillem and Jordi teamed up for a show on the stage. The top Guillem is playing and made by Jordi is massive:

Jordi has a trick in which he starts unwinding the top using gravity, spins around to follow the (heavy) button, and drops the top, catching the string and finishing the unwiding, going directly to freestyle play. Very visual and original. He did it on stage with Guillem's help.

The guest countries this year were Peru and Portugal.

Portugal was represented by the Tokajogar group, with Daniel Simão and his partner. They consider themselves actors and performers, reenacting the old way of life at festivals in Portugal. This includes old games, specially tops, that they try to promote. Here they are doing a demonstration showing the different traditional styles of top play in Portugal:

Peru was represented by Aperino (Alan Luciano Marquez La Rosa) and his spintop art. I'm not an artist but, do you really think this drawing looks like me?  :-\ For sure the top doesn't look like Figaro.  >:D

Although Rocco was not there, Alberto (with the help of Maurizio) represented Italy well on stage:

Pablo did his show, not without some extra excitement, with the flames of the fire pendulum almost reaching the red curtain above and the giant top started close to the edge of the stage.

Devadip had to skip the Saturday performance due to exhaustion (he had a little medical scare Friday night). His show is really spectacular and he communicates very well with the audience:

Daniel did his signature 2 and 1 handed stands by a spinning top, his head stand besides a inverted top (giraboli trick), and even tried a no-hands back flip with a top in his hand.

Always well dressed:

The festival was also a success with the public and got pretty busy Saturday afternoon and all Sunday.

Laurence from Les Sens du Bois is a rare female turner. During the festival she had several kids apprentices that she taught how to turn.

Beware of German women (Mareike was adamant the she was not going to be the top):

My view from below the Top of Friendship:

Unfortunately, I took it a little bit late, when Figaro had already fallen. Next time I'll be prepared.

Excellent! Lots of new exhibitors and tops and games since I attended 5 years ago. Way too many temptations now.

Where do all these wooden topmakers sell their wares between Marines and Loon-Plage festivals? How about the game makers?
