During the festival there was an exhibition of Cuachancaca (or Kuachankaka), the whip top game played before the arrival of the Europeans:
It's currently mainly played by the Huastec people from the sierras of San Luis PotosÃ. The name Cuachancaca refers to cones of sugar of similar shape.
The boy was pretty good keeping the spinning under control and he even spun two simultaneously. Taka and I tried it on stage and we were not very successful (the top is pretty light so you have to whip it gently).
I want to get one like that for my collection, specially the hand made whip.
