Here are the competitors, judges, team Cuper and a few others, including "Topo" an independent top hustler who photo-bombed the awards by placing himself in the front center (at the time I thought he was from Trompos Chido) >:(

Notice that the huge banner behind the stage was changed from the one for the festival.

During the festival there was an exhibition of Cuachancaca (or Kuachankaka), the whip top game played before the arrival of the Europeans:

It's currently mainly played by the Huastec people from the sierras of San Luis Potosí. The name Cuachancaca refers to cones of sugar of similar shape.
The boy was pretty good keeping the spinning under control and he even spun two simultaneously. Taka and I tried it on stage and we were not very successful (the top is pretty light so you have to whip it gently).
I want to get one like that for my collection, specially the hand made whip.

Here are the open freestyles, recorded by Taka's GoPro. Yahir plays last.

Unfortunately, several of the open competitors that Cuper expected didn't come. Yahir did a very good job, although he said the humidity affected his play (he didn't know about talc use).

I'll upload the youth freestyles later. That was a very competitive division and to me a lot of fun to watch.
