New bearing or new top? Seems odd that you would not be able to clean the bearing....

Seems like there is a video somewhere about just dipping the tip of the top in a jar of mineral spirits.  Use a small jar, like a baby food jar, so the top will sit upright with the tip in the mineral spirits.  Let is sit for a few minutes, then spin the tip and use some canned air to blow out the excess.

Won't that melt the plastic?

I contacted Trompos Space a few years back.  They confirmed that the bearing is not replaceable nor removable.  With that info I set to fix my wife's Jupiter roller.   Gently pull the tip straight out.  The bearing is pressed into the plastic.  The upper end of the tip shaft is swaged to hold the single  bearing on.  I had to grind the metal to remove the dead bearing. To hold the bearing on now I had to drill the shaft and tap a small threaded hole.  M2 size if if remember correctly.  Carefully align and press the assembly back into the top.  I removed the crown and used a drill press to force it in.   Not a task for the faint of heart as it takes a bit of skill and a few tools.  On the other hand if the top is not working what do you have to loose?

Sounds good to me!

But maybe some super glue and making it a fixed tip would be easier :-P

Super glue (cyanoacrylate) will of gas and mess up lots of things like optics and moving parts.  I would try a thickened epoxy.  JB Weld (the original 24 hr cure formula) is quite thick and will not run into bad places.

That's a good idea.

I need to clean it.

Buy a new one!

Its a cheap toy its not meant to last, also all the pros are giving the same solution... go fixed! ;D

(I also love bearing tips but I  guess its because I cant regenerate yet... :-\)

New bearing or new top? Seems odd that you would not be able to clean the bearing....
