Look what I found in Kensington market today!
« on: October 10, 2019, 02:20:19 AM »

My girlfriend and I were wandering around Kensington market and look what I found! I was pretty surprised since this is the first Top in store I’ve come across since 2001  :o on top of that there were about 7-8! And on top of that I find out it’s world top spinning day?!

Channel Craft inherited the The Toycrafter line of products. I believe they were first distributors for them, but I never could find out what was the deal between them as it happened after Don Olney sold his company to long-time production manager Bruce Hawkes (end of 2002).
Currently on their website I see many finger tops and spinners but no throw tops: Channel Craft: Tops and Spinners.

I have one of those tops in the round container from Channel Craft.  I got it for Christmas from my step-daughter.  She lives in Austin, Texas and I assumed she got it there.  She was quite pleased to find it and for good reason, as I do not ever recall seeing them in many places around here.  Great find, Jack.  But it is an especially great find on world top spinning day!!!

Nice!! I should make my way down there and pick up 1 or 2 for myself.

How much were they, by the way?

Si podemos encontrar una forma de enviar / recibir dinero, tal vez pueda ayudar a un miembro del foro (CUPER) comprando 1 o 2 y enviándolos por correo. Si todavía están allí cuando yo vaya allí.

Also thanks for the great info on the product ta0 and Mike.

I am kind of fascinated with channel craft.  I keep trying to figure out how I can get away to go to their factory.

That could be fun. I see it's in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania. That's 30 miles south of Pittsburgh.

I will be moving back to Ottawa with my parents for a few months in a few months, but yes I am in Toronto!  :D I was actually going to post that there will likely be a YoYoToronto meetup on Saturday November 30th, 3 pm at the Bahen Centre at U of T in downtown Toronto.  I am one of the few top spinners there, but I will be there with some bearing and fixed tipped tops including a 3 inch diameter x 4 inch tall JohnM top I picked up this summer in Ohio :) (and string made by Renee!). I'll be driving there from Brampton, so if not too far out of the way I could even help you out with a ride. Check out the YoYoToronto Facebook group, or yoyotoronto.com. Wayne Ngan (Canadian Yo-Yo Nats organizer here in Toronto) likes to throw a top too.

$16, that's pretty good I imagine for a Channel Craft top like this.
