hello all,

since I've been practicing alot with my grandfathers old wooden top, it got smashed, beat-up and thrown to the floor most of the time..
so, I promised myself and my top( -) that I would make it a beautiful top, once I got the boomerang trick .
i spray-painted two of my tops I got from my grandfather. I'm happy with the results!



first painted, then added details, and finished it with varnish.
on the green one I've painted, I decided to draw the "tree of life" the other is just my imagination of a small but cool looking top 

the others are spray painted too.
this is a top I got from a friend.

It was not much work,  only a long drying time.
The before and after top was first treated with walnut oil. It was crazy how the wood sucked up all oil directly! 
It does have a special place in my heart   .
I love all my tops and treat them with care.  Just thrown the Yellow one.  It got some amazing colors when spinning!  Yellow and black bands of color

Love what you did with the white on green and yellow on black patterns! It's fun to design interesting resting patterns that also produce cool visual effects at speed.

If you have access to a variable-speed strobe light (e.g., borrowed from your local mechanic), watch both of these tops spin under the strobe as you sweep the flashing rate up and down. Then do the same with other patterned tops.

The strobe patterns are both beautiful and surprising -- and they keep changing with flashing speed all the way to 6,000 flashes per minute and beyond!

You can also get mild but still interesting strobe effects under LED lamps on wall dimmers. These flash faster than you can normally see for dimming purposes but interact with spinning patterned tops in cool ways. (Incandescent lights don't do this.)

I found one of my wooden tops,  which I forgot to paint.
Originally,  it was painted with gold -colored acrylic paint.
Did something I wanted to do a long time ago,  made it a 'Ladybug' top! (From the Disney channel series 'Miraculous ')
First,  cleaned it , then painted it red.  Did the  black dots with a permanent marker.
I varnished it to make it waterproof.






My grandmother's cat posed for the photo too!

Love your painted designs, Hydrona!

Since I also love tops that glow in the dark, I think radioactive tops could be a lot of fun. Too bad radium paint's so expensive. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm happy how my tops are painted.  I paint with acrylic paint.  Sometimes I use spray paint,  but it seems to get off more quickly.
Maybe the red with black dots is going with me to Loon Plage.

Hello folks,
How's everyone doing?
Wanted to share this with you all 
A few days ago I decided to make some fan art for Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts.
So I painted a wooden top I've got from my grandfathers basement.
I already gave it a new tip. The top was old, so I needed to oil it a bit.
That was in summer. I painted it recently.
I like how it turned out!
To compare, here are my top and a pic of the series.






The 'crown' is a bottle cap. The top has no crown, so I though about making one.
The cap is placed and set into place with a screw. It does not affect play at all.
Maybe because it's plastic. Did this with most of my crownless wooden tops.
I can spin them better now.

Hello folks,
I though about re-painting my 'kipo top'.
But I was too lazy.. So I took another top, a even better one, and spray painted it.
My mother went to the hardware store and bought purple spray paint for me.
She showed it through WhatsApp, so the color was right.
My uncle had some great idea of making a spray booth (?).
Make a hole in a box, put my top on a string, and let it hang inside the box. See picture.
And finally it was the right color!
Why do I even want to spray paint my tops?
Because it's a bit protected from dings, and it makes it more personal.
