It's 11 PM and I just took this photo from the "guest house":

You can see Harpa illuminated in the background.

Dale and Cuper are with me.

It is midnight and we are off the plane and waiting for a shuttle.  I just have a couple of questions.  Why is the sun still out?  Why can I see my breath?  And why am I the only idiot with shorts on?

Mike, 49 years ago when I was deployed there we covered the windows with aluminum foil to sleep. Bet it still works.

We are over near the Harps. There is a great bakery at the base of the building we are in. Is right across from the Harpa. Lots of grass here also.

Yes, nothing but hard floors.  The top spinning workshop is set to start now.  We are gathered around the downstairs stage.  It is fairly good size but the main stage is upstairs and in a nice room with plenty of seating.....but no carpet.  Interestingly enough, Tom Connelly's daughter is on stage right now doing some practicing.

The views out of the Harpa building are fabulous.  So many great scenes of the water and the boats.  And when I came in the building I passed by some stacked rocks.....like dozens and dozens of them!  It was so impressive.  Rob Tsau says they are called cairns.  He also says the penis museum is near where he is staying!!!

Best of luck to everyone competing! May you find some carpet.

It takes an unusual person to collect penises, and an even more unusual one to do it in public.

jmadrigal may have some stories about the p. museum.  He said he visited it and I will let him take it from there.

I finally got to check out his 3D printed tops.  They are quite impressive.  Fairly light, as I was guessing, but they are quite durable.  I gave his larger glow in the dark top quite a run and really enjoyed the play of it.  I moved to the small stage to take some chances as the surface is a little cushioned.  Sadly, the hard floor is taking its toll on other spinning implements as a number of tops have been heard to break and even one of ta0's tips snapped off.

Time Conversion to EDT for watching
Spintop finals are at 17:00 (5:00PM)

According to https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/iceland/reykjavik
Iceland is on GMT
They DO NOT have a daylight savings time. thus a 4 hour difference
SO finals are at 13:00 EDT (1:00PM)
Noon CDT

The Czech brothers are playing extraordinary and should give us a great freestyle. Jose is playing very well and will do great. The Japanese player is a mystery: we know he is a good 4A player but we do not know if he will freestyle with spintops or komas.

We taught a few players to throw. Then we had a passing the top while regenerating game with 6 players (Marco, Tom K., Daniel, Jakub, Jose and myself). Finally, we battled on a tile. Jakub's girlfriend and Tom's wife also participated. Tom won.
