Eight years later it is still a classic.....
Yes, that is a classic! I am very happy SpinQueen/csam made such a great recap as I missed going.  I think 08 was one of the only two world contests (together with 06) that I have missed since 2004.
Thanks for posting it. It is a good way of getting in the mood for this year. I hope the venue has plenty of space to throw tops, like the Rosen in Orlando had.

Tyler Young still has it as last year there was no corkscrew contest.
I hope those in Cleveland who don't freestyle at least compete on this one (even if the world record in unlikely to be broken.)

So, I'd be interested in coming to participate in a Ladder, if there was enough interest. If there isn't going to be one I'd rather save the registration fee and vacation days though, as I am in no way ready for freestyles

Seems like when we had worlds in Orlando we always had people ready to do the ladder.

I'm up for the ladder (AKA Sport Division).  I plan to freestyle but I do not expect to make the finals.  How can we get a head count to see if this will happen or not?

We could also get the more advanced players to compete with their non-dominant hand :D In that case I need to start practicing . . .

I finally got my tickets and hotel reservation.
I am arriving to Cleveland Tuesday the 2nd. I will be staying at the hotel contest. I will drive to Miamisburg either Saturday or Sunday, and fly home from Dayton Monday evening. I plan to visit John's lab in Cincy either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

See you all there!

PS: I am not competing but will probably be a judge.

No, Jack. Others should compete. Perhaps for Melbourne/Shanghai/Singapore 2018 if we need more players I can compete again  ;D
The real bummer is that you cannot come!

One Mexican player 60% chance. Another just inquired yesterday.

World's 2016 Cleveland Schedule
« Reply #56 on: July 01, 2016, 07:30:54 PM »

We are trying to determine when to arrive in Cleveland. (and how long to stay) The hotel discount expires on Sunday 7/3.

All the "official" top events are on Friday.  When might we do events like corkscrew challenge, Sports Division (FKA ladder), Battles, Workshops etc?

Sound off. When are you arriving?  Departing?  Even if your plans are not set yet, more info will allow us to build community and hang out together.

We are arriving Thursday late morning. Departure time is not clear. I assume that there will be a meet up thread on the forum.
