. . .
Do we know anything about Gus and Salvador?
Any players from Spain?
Will Chris (Neff) be coming? If you are, I would very much like to purchase a sodatop from you. :)
What about Jim? I expect you to come for sure! ;)
. . .

I have mostly bad news. Salvador is not coming, neither Neff, nor Jim  :(
The last time I talked to Gus it seemed unlikely he could come because of the amount of time he was in Europe with his daughter (he is now back in Mexico) but he really wants to be there. I should know more in the next few days about him and who from Cometa besides Alex is coming.

Jorge: How do you fly with Figaro?
It generally travels with me as a carry-on in its own bag, of course  ;) But I have not yet gotten to the point of purchasing him a seat  :P
I am always concerned they will test if it fits those frames they have to restrict the size of carry-on luggage. I believe they are 9" wide and Figaro is 10" . . .
In Paris they did not let me enter the plane with Figaro's rope because they said I could strangle somebody!

When I won nats they let me carry Figaro in its bag and the nats trophy top in the hand as a "personal item". I have not tried to pass a giant top that way again.

Haha!
The rope is the weapon!? ???
Its fine if you decide to bash somebody over-the-head with Figaro! >:D
Some of those TSA people are loosing it. ::)

Here's wishing Figaro (and his rope) a safe and uneventful trip to Prague! 8)

Today, at the last second, Cometa sent their logo for inclusion on the stage backdrop: they will be sponsors!
This is good for spintops in general as it will give the community more credibility having some monetary skin in the game.

Trompos Cometa´s logo is already on the sponsors page: www.worldyoyocontest.com/2014worlds/sponsors/

There will be at least two top spinning women  :)  Besides Val Oliver, Alex's Hungarian girlfriend Marietta will be there:

Just one week left to take the plane!

Alex is of course the one who freestyles on the second part of the video, Alejandro Torres from Trompos Cometa.

This is a promo prepared by Czech Tourism:

I am a little surprised that they highlight cheap beer to attract foreign visitors . . . To Prague? To a World Contest?  ???

The detailed scheduled is up here:

www.worldyoyocontest.com/2014worlds/about/schedule/

It says that all times are in Prague / GMT+1 time, but it appears that the Czech Republic in on daylight saving, so that should say GMT+2.

The spintop finals are Friday 8th at 2PM local time or in the US: 8AM EDT (sorry West Coast).  They will be streamed live here:

www.playo.tv/video/spin-top-finals-1449.aspx

I can confirm that Alex and Marietta are the only players from Cometa coming, no Gus :(   I doubt Marietta is actually freestyling, but she registered.

I am guessing we will have the corkscrew challenge either Friday night after the awards or Saturday morning.

  FYI,
Gentry Stein & Zac Rubino are in Prague right now.
They do not do tops but they are a couple of great
kids from Chico . If you run into them say Hi and good luck to all
that are competing in yoyos & tops.

Yippee!  It is great to get some updates from Prague.  Hope everyone has safe travels.  Sorry to hear Gus is not there but I am happy to hear that a female may be freestyling again.  Go Marietta!
