A stamp and a movie from Argentina
« on: June 03, 2013, 01:47:27 PM »

Here is a very nice stamp from Argentina (I found it listed as from 1983 but I think its says 1963):

Spintop play is central to the life of the main character in this 15 minute short movie from 2005. I shows the effects of flooding in a low-income community. It is based on the historic flooding of 2003 in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, and was shot as criticism of the government (this year there was also catastrophic flooding).

I found these two, as well as the two sculptures I recently posted, in "El Mundo de las Peonzas" (www.peonzas.es), a site from Spain maintained by two high school teachers.  They have added quite a bit of material recently.  The strength of the site is the top presence in the culture more than top play itself, such as appearances of tops in movies, art, advertisement, etc.

¡eh, che boludo,
esta estampilla
bien que te pilla!

¡eh, che boludo!
te has quedado mudo,
tanta agua en Santa Fé,
mucha agua para el café!

Baila ese trompo amarillo,
ponte los colores albicelestes,
entretente con él, chiquillo,
juega con él y nunca lo sueltes!

 ;D ;D ;D

Pretty good your Argentinian, but . . .
