I had the pleasure of chucking this baby yesterday. It has a beautiful organic shape--like an egg shaped water drop. I love the way it holds true to tradition, yet stands as a truly modern interpretation riffed by Neff.
Although I understand Chris' goal of keeping the tip shape traditional, I'd love to try one of these with a JohnM tip instead! It would be even more killer to have a swapable tip so one might alternate at will for the best of both worlds. Seems totally doable given the chunky, durable tip material of the HDPE tops. Not sure how difficult it is to put fat threads on hardened steel, but I have no doubt it can be done.
We didn't have enough space to really put this top through its paces--I would have liked to try some high throws, but it was sweet just the same.
The challenge I'd like to resolve with this top is the string length. Way too long for me. I suppose some combination of fatter string, lighter weight, and perhaps lower center of gravity would allow a more manageable length for what I'm accustomed to. But then again, with these tweaks, it would be far less "Colombian"...
