Merged with an old thread with some related top photos.

The old tops collector club on Yahoo groups was called Unidentified Flying Tops (UFT). Unfortunately, the photos are not available anymore, but you can still read the posts:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/unidentifiedflyingtops/messages/1?l=1
I might post photos of the customized tops that the club made, but then I may have to move this out of the NSTR section . . .

I have no doubt that some of the 1.2M are quite serious, but most are just kidding, right?

I have no doubt the 1.2M are (almost) all kidding.
I have no doubt the security at the base is taking it very seriously (and freaking out).
I have no doubt that the organizer has already received a visit of the FBI and discovered that they don't share his sense of humor.

Looks like they are up to 1.5 million!

My wife sent me a tweet she saw today.  It is from Chipotle and it says "Yes, we deliver to Area 51"

When is the storming of Area 51 supposed to happen? Wonder how many will actually show up?

Wouldn't it be fun if some real space aliens showed up just to mess with the Air Force and the crowd?

1.6 million now say they are going and another 1.2 million say they are interested.  The date of the raid is September 20th at 3am.  It seems like a joke to most people but the hotels/motels out there are getting lots of calls and reservations for that date.

I bet the majority of the reservations are getting government ID discounts ;)  The others will have news media IDs. I've no doubt that they will fill up the hotels and the county will run out of beer ::)

Another article in the local paper today about how the phones will not stop ringing for this September 20th 3am "Naruto run" at Area 51.  Country spokesman Ben Rowley tallied 184 hotel rooms in the county.  Even 500-1000 sudden visitors could create havoc.  The local sheriff said "Someone is going to get hurt and people may go to jail.  It's not anything to joke about."

Looks like something is happening with alien themed activities out in the desert.  Some are now calling it alien-stock.  The article I just read said a gathering is imminent.

The nut jobs, aliens, or both?

Wait -- maybe they're the same. Maybe the aliens are shape-shifters taking the forms of human nut jobs and mesmerizing objects like spinning tops. Maybe they still need time to complete their evil scheme to domesticate us as protein sources.

Maybe they want us to think that the people who know they're here are nut jobs! >:D

Sounds like they did get a bunch of people together.....like 6,000 as one source reported.  They had a lot of overpriced t-shirts.  The local communities had to spend thousands on security.  And one of the organizers said they want to do it again next year!!!

With 6,000 attendees, of course they would want to make it a yearly festival!  >:D

It would be a good opportunity to sell UFO-looking tops. After all, I believe some people say they are powered or levitate by gyroscopic power!
