Yes, some modding was required.  8)

I did something similar to what Eric describes; I removed the Jupiter's cap, tip and guts then mounted the body on the wood lathe.  I re-cut a larger "seat" for the new tip and glued it in; I didn't quite get press-fit, Erific precision ;)  Before gluing, I turned a tiny bit of plastic off the body near the point to make for a seamless/stepless union.

I was a little worried about getting the holes just right (perfectly centered and aligned), but it worked!

The Jupiter tip came out with pliers--not much trouble.  It will someday be repurposed...

The S8 Giulia Sofia tip is on my clear BK--I like it a lot, especially with new bearings.  The string does hang up ocassionally as the tip is just slightly wider at the union with the top body.

The blue TG in the background has a shaped TG tip I made a while back.  Here's a close up...not enough width/material below the neck, but it's OK.

How do you like the S8 tip in the trompo grande?  I've never tried that.

Great look! The size of the bearings is the same, I'll try that or so.

Try to play with two counterweights inside in the lowest position. Heavy and quick precession. Fun! :D

Without any counterweight device, the play is very smoot. No vibrations. But if you left the screw, the cup stay well fitted but a medium vibration appear and is imposible to eliminate.

The cup fit very well and only jump out after a hard fall -golpe seco-.

Sideview of the crown showing small rings to hold into the body.

All de counterweight device with weight, nuts and screw. And a small amount of glue. The screw is holded deeply into the crown.

An happy idea. Two counterweights in the same top and near the tip. The behaviour raise to better.

The crown is very nice and smart. The printings has a great precision.

The inner part of the body, showing the way to avoid inyection defectives.

Inner side of the crown with the marks of the "pushers" of the inyection machine.

The shape of the fixed tip is a bit rough, but a lot efective. I'd prefer a deeper groove... but the style of the designer is a smart play.

Bearing tip is better mechanized. The "exit wing" is cuasi parabolic, a very interesting solution that must be tested soon.

The inner mark of the bolt to fix the axis of the tip to the bearing.

This is an insert to hold the threaded rod in the J. Roller, yes?

Great photos, Pulp, as usual.

I still need to to try the doubling of the adjustable way as you did (actually, I have not have time to play much with them, nor I have touched the STB2 yet  ::) ) But one thing I want to do is to build a heavier weight of steel to better test the changes on play with the change in the center of mass.

Yes, and the fixed tip Jupiter should have the same insert (the standard solution for a plastic part that receives a metal screw).

The fixet tip Jupiter has an extra long tip with a hole in the top of the shaft to accept the threaded rod.

YOU ARE RIGHT!  :o I had to take one out to convince myself! How did you know?  ;)

The diameters of the first 2 steps on the shaft are very close to those of a Hollow Point tip.  It would need just a touch on the lathe to fit the HP and it would be perfect for making a fire top.

Excuse me. Yesterday I haven't enough time to add the footprints to the photos.

Very interesting the inner detail of the fix tip. I'd try to take a photo soon.
